Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each, typically on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. The primary objective is to score goals by getting a ball into the opposing team’s goal. Players primarily use their feet to kick the ball, but they can also use their heads and torsos to control it. The game is governed by specific rules, known as the Laws of the Game, established internationally by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).

In different parts of the world, “football” can refer to various forms of the game. In most countries, it represents what is known as soccer in the United States and Canada. However, in the U.S. and Canada, “football” refers to American football, a distinct sport played with an oval-shaped ball on a rectangular field, emphasizing the goal of advancing the ball into the opposing team’s end zone primarily by running and passing. Despite the regional differences, the term “football” fundamentally encapsulates team-based ball games centered around scoring goals or points, each adapted to its culture and context.
